As if you didn’t already know, the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Boston Bruins’ next opponent, are a team in disarray.

With their overtime loss last night in Philadelphia, the Lightning are now winless in their last five games. They sit at 6-10-8 on the year — fourth in the Southeast Division and next-to-last in the East. They changed coaches just a couple weeks ago, and now they’re benching some of their high-priced talent. Last night, interim head coach Rick Tocchet made $9 million-a-year man Radim Vrbata a healthy scratch, as Brant James reported today in the St. Pete Times.

So there probably couldn’t be a bigger contrast in teams than the red-hot,  happy-go-lucky Bruins and the struggling, moribund Lightning right now.  Of course, the key for the Bruins Thursday in Tampa will be to forget just how bad the Lighning are.
