TAMPA¬† — Unexpectedly, Boston Bruins defenseman Dennis Wideman was scratched tonight for the game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. A team spokesperson said it was for an injury-related, as opposed to a coach’s decision or other reason.

Wideman took the morning skate with the Bruins and didn’t show any signs of an injury. Wideman’s absence means that both rookies Matt Lashoff and Johnny Boychuk are in the line-up — leaving the Bruins with three rookies and second-year man Mark Stuart in their top six.
