TAMPA — Boston Bruins winger Marco Sturm has missed the last six games and tonight he’ll add a seventh to the list. The veteran did not skate with the team at the St. Pete Times Forum.

“To be honest with you, (it’s) not necessarily a step backwards but I think we took a cautious step with him today,” Bruins head coach Claude Julien said. “He’s still feeling a little tired, his neck is a little stiff. And so this is basically a precautionary thing. It really is a day-to-day situation now because he could be 100 percent tomorrow.”

Julien clarified what Sturm’s injury is, and it’s not a concussion but concussion-like symptoms probably caused by whiplash suffered after a hit in the Chicago game Nov. 12.  Sturm then played the next three games before taking himself out of the line-up.

Expect the Bruins to field the same forward lines they have the last few games.

Tim Thomas will start in net for the Bruins after Manny Fernandez started the last two contests.

•Julien said he will reveal after warm-up which defenseman between rookies Johnny Boychuk and Matt Lashoff will be in the line-up tonight in the spot vacated by the injured Aaron Ward.
