TAMPA — Don’t for a second think that Boston Bruins winger Chuck Kobasew has forgotten what went down between his Calgary Flames and the Tampa Bay Lightning in June 2004. That year, the Lightning won their first and only Stanley Cup at the expense of the Flames with a Game 7 triumph at what’s now known as the St. Pete Times Forum.
Kobasew admitted today to thebruinsblog.net that he still can’t enter the building without thinking about that painful night in his career.
“That’s never going to go away. Game 7 of the final, a one-goal game, that’s something that’s going to be with me the rest of my life,” he said after the Bruins’ morning skate. “And that gives you that little extra motivation to get back there.”
