One of 38 players invited to the Team Canada tryout camp for the World Junior Championship team, Sarnia Sting forward Jamie Arniel, Boston’s fourth-round pick at last June’s draft, is having a bang-up season. He’s put up 14 goals and 14 assists in 27 regular season games for the Sting, who are playing without departed NHL No. 1 pick Steven Stamkos.

Stamkos, how centering the Tampa Bay third line, predicted big things for Arniel when asked about his former teammate and still friend before Tampa Bay’s 3-1 loss to Boston Thursday.

“He’s a great player. He works hard, he gives 110 percent every night and he’s got pretty good offensive skills. (He’s) very responsible defensively, he plays hard, he’s not afraid to mix it up out there. He’s having a good year. He got to kind of a slow start but he’s picked it up and he got invited to the World Junior camp; he’s got to be excited about that. (The Bruins) have a good player. He’ll be a good pro.”
