SUNRISE, Fla. — The Boston Bruins practiced here today in preparation for their game with the Florida Panthers Saturday night.

While I was unable to make it south from Tampa fast enough, beat reporter John Bishop was kind enough to provide some sound.

The big news of the day was that winger Marco Sturm (neck) and defenseman Dennis Wideman (middle body) were both held off the ice and Sturm was ruled out for a return tomorrow night by head coach Claude Julien.

“Put him as very doubtful; unless you believe in miracles,” the coach said.

Wideman will take the morning skate tomorrow before determining his status. If he can’t go, the Bruins will again have to use three rookies among their six defensemen.
