Well, the Boston Bruins’ five-game winning streak came to an end in Washington tonight, by a score of 3-1, but one streak didn’t end — Phil Kessel’s point-scoring streak.
The third-year winger assisted on the lone goal by Boston (a Milan Lucic tally) to extend his streak to 13 games. That’s not only a career high and the longest current active streak in the NHL, but it also ties the longest streak this season by any player (Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin).
•On the flip side, a number of streaks ended in addition to Boston’s string of victories. Kessel’s goal-scoring streak was snapped at six games, David Krejci’s point streak ended at nine and goaltender Manny Fernandez had his winning streak snapped at seven games.
