The Boston Bruins returned winger Martins Karsums to Providence of the AHL after last night’s 4-2 win over Atlanta.
Karsums had been on emergency recall because the club needed an extra forward in the absence of center Patrice Bergeron (flu).
In his NHL debut against the Thrashers at the TD Banknorth Garden, Karsums skated for 8:52 of ice time and posted a minus-1 rating. He fired two shots on net, threw two hits and blocked one shot.
“I thought (Karsums) was good tonight,” head coach Claude Julien said after the game. “To me, he almost had a couple goals there. He had two real good chances to score tonight. And that whole line (Karsums-Vladimir Sobotka–Shawn Thornton), it’s unfortunate that they were on for a couple goals, which wasn’t necessarily their fault. I think Thornton, Karsums and Sobotka had a lot of energy tonight.”
