A major miracle happened in Montreal last night. Well, not exactly major, but some probably considered it a miracle. The Habs fell at Carolina, but star winger Alexei Kovalev finally scored, as Pat Hickey reports in the Montreal Gazette.
Kovalev had gone an incredible 19 games without scoring a goal before he lit the lamp in Raleigh. What a contrast between Kovalev’s scoring pace and the red-hot play of the Boston Bruins’ top guns, including Phil Kessel, David Krejci and the resurgent Michael Ryder.
The Habs have now lost three in a row and fallen into fifth in the East. They clash with fourth-place Philadelphia Thursday night.
