carolina_hurricanes_logoThe Boston Bruins will try to not be intimidated by the “Men in Black” tonight in Raleigh, as the Carolina Hurricanes will wear their black alternate uniforms during the match-up at SBC Center.

Unlike the Bruins, who are undefeated (4-0-0) when wearing their black alternate sweaters, Carolina has managed just a 3-2-2 record in the new threads — including two straight shootout losses.

While the Bruins are starting a three-game road trip, the ‘Canes are back home after a 2-2 jaunt on the road and are starting a three-game homestand. Carolina, just 9-8-1 at home, has won its last three home contests, while the Bruins bring the league’s second-best road win percentage and 12-4-3 record to Raleigh.

Season series: The Bruins won the only previous meeting between these teams, 4-2, Dec. 20. The teams will meet twice more after tonight.

Carolina Player to Watch: Who doesn’t want to watch center Rod Brind’Amour? One of the toughest, most rugged players in the league — even today at 38 years old — the Carolina captain is a future Hall of Famer and a sight to behold. He’s just 14 points behind Michel Goulet for 48th on the all-time NHL scoring list, and this year he has compiled 8-16-24 totals while skating in all 36 of the Canes’ games. He has at least one point in seven of his last eight outings.
