A season-series sweep is the offing tonight when the Boston Bruins visit the Atlanta Thrashers at Philips Arena.
The Bruins are 3-0 vs. Atlanta to this point of the season, and a pair of the club’s young guns are have been a major reason for Boston’s success against the team from Dixie.
Milan Lucic and David Krejci have both produced six points against Atlanta — with Lucic popping in four goals and Krejci one. Both have scored one goal on the power play against the Thrashers, leading the Bruins to a 50 percent success rate with the man-advantage when tangling with Atlanta. Of course, the Thrashers are also scoring at a 50 percent clip when a man up, so special teams should play a major role in this one.
Season series: In their three wins, the Bruins have outscored Atlanta, 16-9, including a 7-4 rout in their first visit to Philips.
Atlanta Player to Watch: No matter how much Atlanta struggles as a team and no matter how many trade rumors swirl over his head, winger Ilya Kovalchuk just keeps on scoring. He leads the team with 11-24-35 totals, which also seed him 20th among the league leaders.
