Everyone knows that Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Ron Wilson is as demanding as they come. And his style is all about aggression and getting pucks on the net. But in his first year behind the Buds’ bench, Wilson might be wearing his team out — or at least that’s what Mark Zwolinski writes in today’s Toronto Star.
To their credit, Maples Leafs forwards Matt Stajan and Niklas Hagman aren’t making any excuses for the team’s recent poor play. But the numbers seem to back up the notion that the Leafs, who host the Boston Bruins Wednesday night at Air Canada Centre, might be running out of gas as the season rolls toward the All-Star break.
MK: It’s stories like this that really make you appreciate what the Bruins have been able to accomplish while rolling four lines almost every night. Even with all the injuries, most of the Bruins’ call-ups have been capable enough to take a regular shift regardless of the game situation.
