I’d be remiss if I didn’t call attention to Doug Fischer’s excellent piece in yesterday’s Ottawa Citizen looking back at the Ottawa Senators’ decision to let Zdeno Chara walk away and keep Wade Redden in July 2006.
It’s funny that some sources in his story speculate that Redden was retained in part because of the suite he used to purchase for sick kids at ScotiaBank Place. You’d be hard-pressed to find a Bruins player more charitable than Chara — heck, the guy even traveled to Africa to prove what a philanthropist he is.
Anyway, the Bruins are more than pleased that Ottawa dropped the ball on that one. And the Sens, well, just look at the standings.
