Bruin of the Week

Thomas
Boston Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas did all he could to make sure the coaching staff didn’t have to rush the recovering Manny Fernandez back into the line-up by coming up big twice last week.
Thomas finished the week that ended today with a 2-0-0 record, .917 save percentage and a goals-against average of 1.94. With numbers like that, he has to be my Bruin of the Week.
With Fernandez healthy enough to be the back-up but not start at Philadelphia and Ottawa, Thomas had to be on top of his game. Against the Flyers, he stopped 25 of 26 shots to make sure the Bruins’ first trip of the season to Wachovia Center was a victorious one.
And then the next night in Ottawa, Thomas stopped 19 of 22 shots in regulation and overtime, and then made sure five Senators shooters in the shootout didn’t cash in for a 4-3 win.
The Bruins finished the week, 2-0-1, as Fernandez returned to action and lost an overtime thriller at home to Philly.
