As Toronto head coach Ron Wilson says in an article today by Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun, it’s no big surprise that the Maple Leafs have to make some major changes. They woke up today 11th in the conference.

Maybe the only surprise is that Wilson finally decided to speak the truth. Now,  obviously, he’s trying to jump start his team and get his players to try to prove him wrong. But this could go one of two ways. The Leafs could respond, or they could say ‘screw it’ and wait until the wheeling and dealing is done.

MK: With the likes of Dominic Moore, Nik Antropov and Pavel Kubina expected to be among the available soon-to-be-ex Leafs, the Boston Bruins will have to keep close tabs on TO. Brian Burke drives a hard bargain, but he and Peter Chiarelli have made deals in the past.

Elsewhere around the division:

•In the Ottawa Sun, Filip Kuba tells Bruce Garrioch he has no plans of waiving his no trade clause. Over in the Ottawa Citizen, Allen Panzeri explains that there’s no rift between coach Cory Clouston and Dany Heatley.

•The Montreal Canadiens decided the cure for their ills was to go bowling, as Dave Stubbs explains in the Montreal Gazette.
