Yesterday Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reported in All Things Avs that the Boston Bruins had four scouts at the Colorado Avalanche-Minnesota Wild game Wednesday night.
Dater goes on to say the Bruins were probably looking for a defenseman, namely Brett Clark, Ruslan Salei or Jordan Leopold. He said the Bruins might also be talking about forward Marek Svatos.
MK: Clark would be the best fit, and is the best player of those mentioned, but he’s signed through the end of next season at a cap hit of $3.5 million — a tight squeeze for 2009-10. Salei is in the same boat. Leopold might make the most sense because he goes UFA this summer. But his injury history suggests you can’t count on him, and the Bruins already have their share of injury-prone folks. My advice to the Bruins, look elsewhere for help. I don’t like the available talent or the contracts with these Avs players. The Bruins need a solid, veteran rental … and need a left-shooting wing more than a blueliner.
