I can’t tell if the Montreal Canadiens more resemble a daytime soap like “Young and the Restless” or an evening mini-drama like “Beverly Hills 90210” but the Montreal Canadiens’ own version of Donna Martin is now in deny mode.
Pat Hickey in the Montreal Gazette reports that in an email to TSN personality Darren Dreger, Kovalev shot down the report that he told Russian officials he was done with the Canadiens. Of course, that doesn’t change the fact that numerous reports say the Habs don’t want Kovalev back and general manager Bob Gainey is working on a deal as I write this. It also doesn’t prevent Donna from having intercourse with David Silver sooner or later. Huh?
Anyway, here’s a quick look around at the rest of the division:
•Amidst all the controversy, the Habs picked up a point in Washington last night. And they’re glad for the moral victory.
•Out with a serious jaw injury, Buffalo leading-scorer Thomas Vanek says he might not be back as soon as originally reported.
•All hail Clouston! Bruce Garrioch writes in today’s Ottawa Sun that Cory Clouston was the right choice to take over as Senators head coach.
