BOSTON — Breaking the two-for-Thomas, one-for-Fernandez pattern he’d been using since Manny Fernandez returned from injury earlier this month, Boston Bruins head coach Claude Julien has granted the start for today’s game against the Washington Capitals to Tim Thomas.

Thomas against the Caps this season is 1-1-0 with a 1.99 goals-against average and a .939 save percentage.

It appears that with Milan Lucic out, the Bruins will dress seven defensemen. Matt Hunwick skated the warm-up on the line with Marc Savard and Phil Kessel. UPDATE: The Bruins are in fact dressing seven defensemen, as per the official line-up sheet.
