Goaltender Manny Fernandez made his first start for the Bruins since Feb. 22 and he has now lost all four of his starts since the beginning of February. His last win was Jan. 8 vs. Ottawa. Bruins head coach Claude Julien, however, didn’t blame the netminder after the game.

“The first goal probably trickled through his arm, but the other goals — one was a tip in and he didn’t see. There was a lot (of traffic) close by,” the coach said. “I don’t think we really helped him, to be honest with you. When a goalie doesn’t play as much, which he hasn’t, in a while … you’ve got to be better in front of him. And I don’t think we helped him.”

Julien had to speak for Fernandez because the veteran puck-stopper declined to comment after the game.
