WILMINGTON, Mass. — The ice is empty here at Ristuccia Arena. That’s not because Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli traded everyone but because the team isn’t scheduled to practice until 11:30 a.m.
Anyway, just before I left the house to head here, another defenseman was removed from the market, as Ottawa announced a contract extension with Filip Kuba. The veteran gets three years at a little less than $4 million per, as per TSN.ca.
MK: This is a solid signing by Ottawa. Now if they can get Chris Neil done, you mix the two two contracts with the trade for Pascal Leclaire and any other additions the Sens make today and this summer, and you might have a formidable foe from Canada’s captial next season.
UPDATE: Practice has been delayed 15 minutes until 11:45 a.m. Maybe someone’s in the room saying his good-byes.
I know P.J. Axelsson is still here. He’s working on his stick as I write this (not packing his bags).
