BOSTON — It wasn’t pretty, but the Boston Bruins hung on for their second straight win today, as they took down the New York Islanders, 2-1, at TD Banknorth Garden.

Winger Phil Kessel scored the game’s first goal at 3:16 and then assisted on a Marc  Savard goal just 65 seconds later and that’s all the Bruins mustered as far as offense. The Bruins killed a crucial Islanders 5-on-3 for 42 seconds in the third period with Andrew Ference, Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron getting the job done.
