WILMINGTON, Mass. — Phil Kessel returned after his “maintenance day” and the Boston Bruins practiced for the second straight morning at Ristuccia Arena today.

Stephane Yelle
was also on the ice in his attempt to return from an upper-body injury. Head coach Claude Julien said Yelle is still day-to-day. All 13 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders practiced in the same lines and pairs from Sunday’s loss in Pittsburgh.

The Bruins did some power-play work and then a lot of battle drills.

“I think we’re just trying to do things to get the sloppiness out of our game,” said winger Milan Lucic after the hourlong session. “So I think right now we just need to be mentally tough, mentally sharp, and make sure we’re making those passes and doing those little things.”

The Bruins will host Los Angeles tomorrow after one day off and two hard days of practice. What does Julien expect from his club?

“It doesn’t guarantee anything. I can tell you that much,” said the coach. “A lot of it is our approach to the games, our commitment to the game and not getting away from what’s been successful for us.”
