The game of the night last night in the Northeast Division featured the Buffalo Sabres keeping their slim playoff hopes alive with a shootout win over Montreal at Bell Centre.
Defenseman Toni Lydman scored the only goal of a lengthy shootout, so Buffalo pulled within four points of the Canadiens for eighth in the Eastern Conference. Florida is sandwiched between the Sabres and the Habs, just one point behind Montreal. John Vogl of the Buffalo News has the details from the Buffalo perspective.
MK: Montreal or Buffalo? Or Florida? Which team do the Boston Bruins want to play? I think all three would be a difficult match-up, and all three have given the Bruins a problem in the regular season at one point or another.
Elsewhere in the division:
•Goaltender Carey Price nearly pulled it out for the Habs.
•The Sabres are going to be without hard-hitting Patrick Kaleta because of a concussion.
•Columnist Damien Cox of The Star is not impressed with Toronto netminder Justin Pogge, who was pulled against Boston last night.
•Ottawa was awful in a loss to Atlanta.
