Some trades require weeks, months or even years to grade.

The Boston Bruins’ acquisition of future Hall of Famer Mark Recchi from Tampa Bay is only a little more than three weeks in the rear view mirror, but it’s definitely been a winner.

During the Bruins’ two games this week, Recchi potted three goals to run his total for the season to 20 and his total as a Bruin to seven in 11 games. For his efforts this week, Recchi is my Bruin of the Week.

In the win over Toronto, Recchi scored twice — both on the power play, and both to tie the score. In Philadelphia, Recchi’s goal stopped any momentum the Flyers were building and gave Boston a two-goal lead in the third period. In addition to his goal total, Recchi has brought the Bruins a net-front presence they lacked before the trade. Recchi even drew a big crosschecking penalty in front of the net against the Flyers that earned the club a 5-on-3 it scored on.

Other candidates this week were defensemen Matt Hunwick (0-3-3, plus-3) and Dennis Wideman (1-3-4, plus-1) and goaltender Tim Thomas (season-high 45 saves to beat Philly).
