Providence Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk continued to reap the rewards of his outstanding play today, as he was named to the AHL First All-Star Team, as voted by AHL players, coaches and media.
Just yesterday, Boychuk was named the co-recipient of the league’s player of the month award for March.
Boychuk, whose P-Bruins sit four points back of Hartford for the Atlantic Division lead with one game in hand, leads all AHL defensemen with 20 goals and 63 points. He is also a plus-21 on the season and has tallied five game-winning goals. Boychuk and Co. will be back in action Friday night against the first-place Wolf Pack.
Also today, the P-Bruins announced the signing of defenseman David Kolomatis to an Amateur Tryout Agreement. Kolomatis played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Owen Sound, where he finished 12th among OHL defenseman this season with 46 points (18 goals).
