Presidents’ Trophy race: Sharks lay eggs against Ducks

trophy_presidentsThe San Jose Sharks now lead the Boston Bruins by just one point with four games remaining for the Presidents’ Trophy after dropping a 5-2 stinker against Anaheim last night.

The Sharks and Ducks will play a rematch tonight at Honda Center in Anaheim. The Sharks will probably still be without injured forward Patrick Marleau for their second match-up in as many nights with the Ducks, who might also be San Jose’s first-round playoff opponent.

Here’s a closer look at the Presidents’ Trophy race:

GP     W-L-OT       Pts.
San Jose     78     51-16-11     113
Boston        78     51-17-10    112

Tonight’s game: San Jose at Anaheim.

Other remaining games:

Boston: at OTT, vs. MTL, at BUF, at NYI
San Jose: vs. COLO, vs. PHX, at LA
(Note: The Sharks own the head-to-head tie-breaker.)
