A belated congratulations this afternoon to the Providence Bruins, who clinched a berth in the Calder Cup playoffs with a 3-2 shootout win over Portland last night at Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence.

Center Martin St. Pierre scored the lone goal in the shootout. Forwards Vladimir Sobotka and Brad Marchand scored during regulation. Goaltender Tuukka Rask made 26 saves.

The win also assured the P-Bruins no less than second place in the Atlantic Division. Providence is four points back of Hartford for the division lead with four games remaining.
