Nabokov
It wasn’t pretty but it was effective. Unlike the Boston Bruins, who suffered through an uninspiring loss at Ottawa, San Jose struggled against the Western Conference-worst Colorado Avalanche but pulled out a 1-0 win last night.
Joe Pavelski scored in the shootout and Evgeni Nabokov pitched a shutout in goal in a 1-0 win over Colorado. David Pollak of the Mercury-News has the complete story.
MK: Don’t worry about the Presidents’ Trophy Bruins fans. History proves that most often the winner of that award doesn’t capture the most-coveted one. And anyway, does anyone really think San Jose is going to come out of the West?
Here’s a glance at the Presidents’ Trophy race:
GP W-L-T Pts.
San Jose 80 53-16-11 117
Boston 79 51-18-10 112
Games remaining
San Jose: vs. Phoenix, Thursday; at Los Angeles, Saturday.
Boston: vs. Montreal, Thursday; at Buffalo, Saturday; at NY Islanders, Sunday.

by the way matt, the presidents trophy winner wins the cup more often than any other seed in the playoffs. i wouldn’t be too worried though as a bruins fan, it’s going to be san jose and new jersey in the finals.
