The Boston Bruins experienced it first-hand last night, and today Pat Hickey in the Montreal Gazette describes the heart defenseman Mathieu Schneider displayed in battling through injury to score a big goal in a game the Montreal Canadiens needed to at least take a point from.
MK: It was a great display of courage by Schneider. But let’s not go calling him the Canadiens’ Willis Reed just yet. Let’s see him do it in a playoff game against a team that has something to play for.
Elsewhere around the division:
•Buffalo routed Carolina, but didn’t get the help it needed to stay alive.
•Toronto goaltenders Martin Gerber and Vesa Toskala say they want to be back with the Maple Leafs.
•Ottawa dropped its home finale.
