Ugly Betty would've liked this one.
Ugly. That’s the only way to describe the Boston Bruins’ performance in a 6-1 loss to the host Buffalo Sabres at HSBC Arena today.
You can read the complete recap, if you’re a glutton for punishment, at Yahoo!
Here are some postgame notes:
•Zdeno Chara rested. That leaves Marc Savard, Mark Stuart and David Krejci as the only Bruins with a chance to play in all 82 games. Stuart has played 163 straight contests.
•It was a nondescript NHL debut for forward Mikko Lehtonen. He skated on a line with Krejci and Milan Lucic, logged 16:14 of ice time and registered one shot on net. And that No. 68 on his back looked hideous.
•Good to see defenseman Dennis Wideman return first from a two-game absence and then from a shot of his left boot late in the first period. Wideman finished with 17:18 of ice time and five shots on net.
•Tough night for Matt Hunwick, even though he recorded the primary assist on the Bruins’ lone goal. Both is inability to make a simple pass from the neutral zone on one play and then his bad decision at the blue line along the wall on another play led to Buffalo goals.
Here’s a programming note for you, I will be on Sports Late Night with Mike Giardi on NECN at 11 p.m. tonight. Otherwise, enjoy the rest of your Saturday and TheBruinsBlog.net will be fired up and ready to go Sunday.
