Recchi

Recchi

It was a real Jekyl & Hyde week for the Boston Bruins, as they looked to close out the regular season with some positive vibes but also rest up and avoid injury.

The Bruins won twice and lost twice, and one player stood out through all four games. Veteran winger Mark Recchi, who at 41 has played with the energy of a 21-year-old since joining the Bruins, tallied three goals and four assists in the quartet of contests. For his efforts, which also included an even plus/minus, Recchi is my Bruin of the Week.

Recchi’s best performance came in Thursday night’s dramatic overtime win over Montreal. Playing on the Boston side of the rivalry for the first time, Recchi scored one goal in regulation on a power play and then ended the contest after a great defensive play and pass by linemate Patrice Bergeron.

Other candidates this week were winger Phil Kessel (3 GP, 5-1-6, plus-2) and center Marc Savard (4 GP, 0-3-3).
