From NHL.com, transcript from Colin Campbell's call into NHL Live this morning:

On the events at the end of Boston-Montreal Game 1: "People take things out of different incidents last night (and say:) 'Oh boy! Same thing (as Philadelphia-Pittsburgh)! How many games are you going to suspend him?' You've got to let the games unfold. You've got to let hockey be hockey, playoffs be playoffs. You've got to let the energy flow. And then, when they cross that line, you do what you have to do."

The game was over - how much more unfolding of the game is he expecting and why does that even matter to justify the incident. Is he saying any player can grab another player's face and literally rip a gash in their eye is acceptable behavior? Seems like it if this is his only response to the incident.

I am really sick of this kind of stuff. Discipline should be league wide, not for certain teams or players. The Canadiens obviously get special treatment. And you're not really allowed to even breath on Ovechkin. No player or team is more important than another. Should be the same rules for everyone.

Colin Campbell was just on NHL Live and basically stated that he's sick of hearing about everyone complaining. He responded to the Cammaleri hit on Havlat, and the supposed Ladd interference on Kipprusoff, but didn't even mention the Boston-Montreal series. I'm alreay miffed that the league didn't even make an official comment one way or the other about Avery's "stick tap" to the back of Thomas' head a few weeks ago, but if they don't even address this Komisarek incident, the league is only sending a message of inconsistency in how it's going to handle these events. At the end fo the game, Komisarek came flying in with a high elbow which thankfully missed the back of Hunwick's head, and then the face grabbing is what caused/opened the cut on Hunwick's eye. What's also baffling is that the on-ice officials didn't even call a penalty - granted the game was over, but it makes it an official notice that it was observed and not tolerated. Komisarek would not have tried that cowardly move on Lucic or Chara (whom he shakes in his boots every time Big Z is within 10' of him). Yeah, go after Hunwick to make your point. Stupid.
