WILMINGTON, Mass. — The Boston Bruins will not skate today. As I write this, they are having a team meeting and then the room will open up for the media here at Ristuccia Arena.
Then it will be off to Montreal for the team and TheBruinsBlog.net for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with the Canadiens. But the team, up two games to none, will win the race, as the Bruins are flying and I will be driving.
However, I’ll have plenty of coverage before I depart and then nonstop coverage from North of the Border.
UPDATE: Here a couple of quick-hot notes from today’s availability:
•Winger Milan Lucic, suspended upon review by the NHL for his match penalty in Saturday night’s Game 2, did not have a hearing over the phone with NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell, despite reports from TSN.ca that he did. Expect word on Lucic’s status later today. For now, head coach Claude Julien says he’s “operating as if he’ll be in.” Julien also added he had no idea when the penalty was changed from a game misconduct to a match penalty.
•Only Byron Bitz and Manny Fernandez took advantage of the ice time today.
•Defenseman Andrew Ference, out since April 4 with an undisclosed injury, will travel with the team to Montreal for Games 3 and 4.
