The Boston Bruins did not get any help today in their efforts to at least learn their second-round opponent’s identity, let alone figure out when they’ll be playing a game again.
The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the New Jersey Devils and the Washington Capitals downed the New York Rangers in Game 6 to force a Game 7 in their respective series. Both deciding games will be played Tuesday. If the Rangers win, they automatically play Boston. If Washington wins, the Bruins would play either Carolina or Pittsburgh. I’ll have more on the two Game 6 results tomorrow.
Boston hasn’t played since it finished off Montreal in a four-game sweep last Wednesday. The team was off today and is scheduled to return to practice tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.

All season long, observers sung the praises of first-year San Jose Sharks head coach Todd McLellan for the way he was able to get both of his superstar forwards — Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau — to change their games and play more of a two-way, determined style that could succeed in both the regular season and playoffs.
There'll be no cheesesteaks in the second round for the Bruins.

The Worcester Sharks’ 5-3 win over the top-seeded Hartford Wolf Pack in Game 6 of their Atlantic Division semifinal series tonight earned the Sharks a series win and a division final date with the Providence Bruins.
