BOSTON — No surprise as far as the starting goaltenders are concerned, as Tim Thomas and Cam Ward will be the starters for Boston and Carolina, respectively, with the Bruins trying to go up 2-0 in this series.

As the teams warm up, I pass on this hot little statistic about the ice-cold Erik Cole (at least in the playoffs). Cole, once a player the Bruins coveted before the Edmonton Oilers traded him to Carolina at the trade deadline, has just 6-3-9 totals in 33 NHL postseason games. But that’s not the worst of it, as David Lee of Kukla’s Corner points out. In the 27 games that Cole didn’t face Jose Theodore, the left-shooting winger has put up just 2-0-2 totals.Wow!
