mash_4077_t_shirt_2There might have been more to the Boston Bruins’ inability to defeat the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference semifinal series than met the eye.

In a piece by Hall-of-Famer Kevin Paul Dupont in today’s Boston Globe, Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli hinted that there were more ailing Bruins than just center Marc Savard by the time Game 7 of the Hurricanes series rolled around.

“You’ll be hearing about some surgeries in the near future,” Dupont quoted Chiarelli, who revealed that winger Mark Recchi was among the walking wounded.

Chiarelli will hold a media briefing along with head coach Claude Julien Monday afternoon. I’ll have complete coverage of that event plus tons of season-ending stories on the Bruins’ players and staff. One hopes that the Bruins don’t use the injuries as excuses because every team is dealing with some level of pain at this time of the season.
