2009 NHL Entry Draft: Afternoon update

Here are a couple quick links for this afternoon. I’ll be starting my live blog of the draft in about three hours.

•Now Bob McKenzie at TSN.ca says the Boston Bruins’ offer to Toronto was Phil Kessel and a draft pick (not the 2009 first-rounder) for Tomas Kaberle. Now I’m against it.

•NHLPA head Paul Kelly confirmed to TSN.ca that the salary cap will be $56.8 million and $40.8 will be the minimum.

This deal just sounds horrible. It reeks of the old B’s regime… as soon as a player starts to produce, trade him. If the rumors of Kessel asking for 4.5million a year are true, I don’t see how this deal really saves them cap space.

What the hell. I can’t believe that trade. Why would you trade someone who seems to be getting better and better?
