MONTREAL — Went to bed last night pretty secure that the murmurs about the Boston Bruins shopping Phil Kessel were true and that the notion the Bruins were after Tomas Kaberle again was just as true.
But I never thought those two ideas would join together.
Today, however, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports that the Bruins have offered Kessel to Toronto for Kaberle and the No. 7 pick in tonight’s first round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft at Bell Centre. Trading within the division is always risky, but this would seem like a steal of a deal for the Bruins if it goes down exactly as reported.
Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli will meet with members of the media at 11 a.m., so I’ll have more then.
