MONTREAL — The Boston Bruins weren’t the only club in the Northeast Division to pick a player they really coveted in the first round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft last night at Bell Centre.

Here are some links to stories about the first-round picks of the Bruins’ biggest rivals:

•Montreal actually had Louis Leblanc’s name on his jersey before they picked him.

Zack Kassian made himself famous with a big check on No. 1 pick John Tavares last winter in a prospects game. Kassian will now try to add grit to Buffalo.

•Toronto went for an offensive boost by picking Nazem Kadri.

•Ottawa was confident enough that Jared Cowen’s knee is healing properly that they used their pick on the defenseman.

And in other Senators news, Ottawa general manager Bryan Murray says he hasn’t received one offer for Dany Heatley.
