An offseason ouch for Bruins’ Caron

Caron

Caron

For those who haven’t already seen it, here’s a link to the hit that caused Boston Bruins first-round pick Jordan Caron to suffer a broken collarbone this weekend at Canada’s junior hockey team summer camp. (Sorry you have to sit through a commercial and TSN.ca does not permit embedding.)

According to the Canadian Press, recovery time from a broken collarbone is six to eight weeks, so Caron should still be available to participate in some of the Bruins’ training camp, which opens Sept. 12.

Sure looks like a total cheap shot to me. Watch the video here. Not only does the guy leave his skates to make the hit, he elbows Caron right in the face. Some team-mate that guy is

I think that its bordeline at best. It will teach Jordan to keep his head up through center ice, though. Its supposedly not that bad of a fracture, but he is labled doubtful for rookie camp. In the end it could have been a lot worse; he should consider himself lucky

If it was a game I’d say all’s fair, but throwing a shot like that at a prospective teammate in practice is over the top. I once had a teammate give me a concussion in a field hockey scrimmage; it was years ago and I still want to kill her.
