Former Boston Bruins defenseman Aaron Ward and Carolina winger Scott Walker, now teammates a mere months after Walker injured Ward’s eye with a sucker-punch during the Eastern Conference semifinals, have buried the hatchet and been working out together in Raleigh.
As Chip Alexander of the News & Observer reports, the two veterans, united after the Bruins dealt Ward back to the ‘Canes, are joking around during informal practices in preparation for the opening of 2009 training camp.
“My issue through all of it had nothing to do with the Carolina Hurricanes and nothing to do with Scott Walker. My issue was with the league. That was just a funny ‘ha-ha,’” Ward told Alexander.
The Bruins and Hurricanes will meet for the first time since that playoff series Oct. 3 at TD Bank Garden. I have no idea if there will be any extracurricular activities, but perhaps instead of Walker the Bruins should just go after Ward.
