Fred Cusick, the legendary voice of the Boston Bruins for more than 40 years, has passed away at the age of 90, according to numerous media reports.
Cusick was the first American-born broadcaster named to the Hockey Hall of Fame and was a recipient of the Lester Pearson Award for contributions to hockey.
WBZ 1030 and Boston.com have more of the story.

This is an incredible downer. Fred will always be the Voice of the Bruins in my mind. I remember listening to him do the play by play on a 7″ (you read that right) black and white tv in my bedroom because my mom wouldn’t allow hockey on the ‘family’ tv. By all accounts he was a class act all the way. Here’s hoping the B’s and/or NESN do something classy in his memory.
