Recchi officially on review committee

The NHLPA today officially announced that by a vote of 25-5 a resolution to form a committee to review its operations and submit its findings to the NHLPA Executive Board has passed.

Boston Bruins winger Mark Recchi is one of the players, in addition to San Jose defenseman Rob Blake, Detroit defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom and future Hall of Famer Chris Chelios, who is currently playing for the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. Word of this committee and Recchi’s involvement had leaked out earlier this week and the NHLPA released a statement this afternoon.

The review became necessary when numerous players voiced their displeasure with the decision to fire Executive Director Paul Kelly in August. For more on the challenges the PA has ahead of it, Ken Campbell of The Hockey News has an excellent blog entry that pretty much touches on everything.
