After losing last night at home to Buffalo, the New Jersey Devils are 1-4-0 at the Prudential Center. In contrast, they arrive for tonight’s game with the Bruins at TD Garden with a 5-0-0 road record. That has some of the Devils players baffled.
“Thankfully we’re playing well on the road,” Devils captain Jamie Langenbrunner told the Bergen Record. “Otherwise our home record would be more of an issue. We have to play at home like it is a road game. I think we’re getting away from that a little. We’re playing a little tense and making the type of mistakes that we haven’t been (making) on the road.”
One thing Devils coach Jacques Lemaire won’t use as an excuse for his team’s slow start against the Sabres is the injury bug. Even though his team didn’t have Paul Martin or Jay Pandolfo, Lemaire thought it could’ve played better.
While the two above-mentioned players are going to miss at least four weeks, Patrik Elias might be finally close to getting on the ice after groin surgery.
