Forsberg
Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli is usually tight-lipped about his interest in free agents, but yesterday he admitted to ESPN.com that he’s interested in Peter Forsberg.
“I’ve had some discussions with (agent) Don Baizley on him and we had people scouting him last week,” Chiarelli told ESPN.com, confirming his interest in Forsberg while at the GM meetings in Toronto. “It’s something that we certainly would look at exploring.”
The addition of Forsberg would obviously force the Bruins to make some salary-cap room and the club seems set at center with (a healthy) Marc Savard, Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. What this tells me more than anything is that Chiarelli obviously sees the weaknesses in his team right now and is willing to do something drastic to fix things. It might not be Forsberg, specifically, but a bigger deal could come down the pipe at some point.

Something is going to give. Who knows who. Keep in mind we are back in build a team. Good quote from last year? ” Good teams don’t lose two in a row. ” lets not jump the gun and point a finger. Things could be really bad now. yet the kids have held it pretty well.
It seems like every year some team and GM is interested in this guy. I’m not sure I’d take him and his bad foot over any of the top-3 line forwards; especially when 91 and 17 return.
I dunno, Chiarelli should always be “exploring” — that’s a GM’s job. Going from “exploring” to “expecting a bigger deal to come down the pipe” is a bit of a stretch.
Can’t we wait a few months before getting headaches over trade possibilities?
I think that he would be a distraction and you would only get 30-45 games out of him due to injury.
Is Chiarelli attempting to reassemble the 1996 All Star team here?
Forsberg would also bring about… 2 games. The guy can’t stay healthy. This is his 1000th comeback. He needs to just call it a career.
I wrote an article a week or so ago about how the B’s failed to replace Kessel’s offense and they needed to address that issue. Forsberg would bring a lot of experience to this young team.
