The battle for my Bruin of the Week award was a two-horse race this week, but in the end Tuukka Rask’s heroics in goal were too great to pass up.
It’s hard to pick which performance by Rask was better — his 32-save victory at Atlanta or his 25-save overtime triumph in Buffalo? Remember, he also made two huge saves (and one Thrashers player missed the net) in the shootout win in Atlanta.
Even in defeat, Rask made 17 saves on 20 shots against the New York Islanders last Monday.
The only Bruins player to make a challenge to Rask was center David Krejci, who is finally hitting his stride after his return from H1N1. Last week, Krejci dished for two assists, was a plus-1 and won 25 of 43 faceoffs. He also set up a bunch of scoring chances, which his linemates didn’t finish, and was solid in the defensive zone.
