savard_marc_cardHe revealed himself as a team guy when it came to a new contract with the Bruins, and as a potential sniper in addition to his reputation as one of the game’s premier playmakers.

For his efforts during a 2-1-0 week for the Boston, Marc Savard is my Bruin of the Week.

In the Bruins’ win over Tampa Bay, Savard put Boston on the board first with a power-play goal. While he joined his teammates in stinking up the joint in Montreal Friday, like the rest of his cohorts he turned things around 180 degrees Saturday with his third career hat trick in the rout of Toronto.

This all came on the heels of Savard signing a seven-year contract extension that will still make him very rich while giving the Bruins important flexibility under the salary cap.

Other candidates this week were Patrice Bergeron (1-4-5, plus-5), Mark Recchi (1-3-4, plus-5) and Derek Morris (0-2-2, plus-4).
