BOSTON — The Bruins took the ice today for a rare TD Garden practice.

Of the 18 available skaters, only defenseman Zdeno Chara wasn’t out there for the entire practice. He joined the fray in the final minutes and, officially, he wasn’t around for maintenance.

BOSTON — Patrice Bergeron’s season-high three points (one goal) led the Bruins to a 4-1 win over Tampa Bay tonight at TD Garden.

BOSTON — Every active Bruins player took the ice at TD Garden for a morning skate in preparation for the game with Tampa Bay, except defenseman Johnny Boychuk.

Marc Savard will hold  a press conference to talk about his contract extension after the skater.

BOSTON — Marc Savard will try to celebrate his seven-year contract extension with the Bruins the best way possible — by keeping Boston on its recent hot streak with a win over Tampa Bay tonight at TD Garden.

WILMINGTON, Mass. — TSN.ca is reporting that Bruins center Marc Savard has signed a seven-year contract extension.

The reported cap hit would be $4.2 million.

UPDATE: The Bruins at 5:02 p.m. sent out a release making the deal official for seven years. The total value of the deal is $28.05 million. (more…)

Bergeron

WILMINGTON, Mass. — It’s safe for Bruins backers to exhale.

Center Patrice Bergeron, who did not practice Monday because of the after-effects of a blocked shot Saturday, returned to practice with his teammates this morning at Ristuccia Arena. Bergeron centered his usual line with Marco Sturm and Mark Recchi on the wings.

Defenseman Matt Hunwick also returned after a “maintenance day.” So the Bruins had a full squad on the ice.
