Postgame: Montreal 3, Bruins 2
If Saturday night’s 3-2 loss at Montreal is any indication, Thursday night’s impressive win at Philadelphia might’ve been an aberration. Against the hated Habs, the Bruins lacked the John McClain-like work ethic they need to show in order to have a chance to win regardless of the opponent because of their lackluster offensive play. While Montreal benefited from friendly bounces, the Bruins would’ve been in better shape had their done more to test goaltender Jaroslav Halak.

Here are some more quick-hit thoughts on the defeat to Montreal:
•Blake Wheeler scored by driving to the net, but those in-tight scoring opportunities were way to few and far between.
•The Bruins stepped over the line physically a few times, which has to be addressed. Milan Lucic cancelled out a potential power play by retaliating against Andrei Kostitsyn and Mark Stuart committed a blatant interference penalty. We get it guys, you’re not as meek as you were made out to be after the Pittsburgh game. Now pick your spots better when it comes to rough-housing.
The Bruins allowed one goal on three Montreal power-play opportunities but things could’ve been worse when they didn’t need to be against the league’s second-best man-advantage.
•On the other side of the coin, the Bruins’ power play went 0-for-3 and looked out of sync most of the night. When you watch Chicago play and see Dustin Byfuglien park in front on the power play, you have to wonder how long Claude Julien is going to wait to get Lucic on the man-advantage.
