BOSTON — Head coach Claude Julien provided a brief update on center Marc Savard’s status this morning before the Bruins took on the New York Rangers at TD Garden.

“He’s still far behind. He is really,” said the coach. “When we say better, it’s marginal. It’s not a big, big step right now. But it’s nice to know at least it’s going in the right direction. For him, that’s important. Right now, I don’t think we should even be considering him as a guy coming back soon.”

Julien noted that Savard’s time away from home has been limited to just seeing the doctor and then returning home.
